Not that he son was murdered, but his involvement in helping find missing children afterwords is what got him the job.

His son's kidnapping happened back in 1981, which I know is before your time, but at that time there wasn't much (or anything?) in the way of organized, publicized missing-child search and rescue, et. al. They weren't even putting missing kids pictures on milk cartons yet when he was killed.

Back then child predators weren't much of a concern - parents didn't know the threats existed. With him, 2 Missing Children's Acts were created, Code Adam was created, The Adam Walsh Child Resource Center, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children was founded.

It wasn't a case of "hey - he's a sob story - give him the job" He did more for missing children, child predator awareness, etc. than anyone else. He was already doing the work full-time.

Caylee Anthony's grandparents hardly compare. They were harboring and defending a murderer.

Totally agree elp. The mother was also involved in many organizations to help others in these types of situations. I don't think it was a publicity stunt at all.
